To truly flourish as a human being your true nature as unconditional love needs to be the foundation of your living. This workshop will present Tantra as a way of deep, loving intimacy rather than a practice of exotic erotic sexuality. There will be no exploration or presentation of sexual techniques.     MAKING LOVE: THE ART OF INTIMACY
    Making love is not a skill, but a frame of mind. Becoming intimate with your own presence as love is the only way to become able to be genuinely intimate in love with others. This session will explore the experiences, attitudes, and tools that can make genuine love a real possibility, while remaining clothed. Using yoga posture praxis, pranayama and meditation godfrey will use refined and focussed instruction to invite you to experience the deep, impersonal love at the heart of human consciousness. Open to anyone interested in love and intimacy regardless of experience in yoga. There will be no sexual activity during this workshop, as we will be exploring the love upon which satisfying sexual activity depends.

    Soft rhythmic movements synchronised with the breath fully harness the mobiity of the body to awaken and energise it. Focussed sensitivity to sensation quietens and clarifies the mind, so that a deep intimacy with body, mind and spirit becomes possible without demanding extremes of strength and flexibility. This invites you to spiritual integration by way of functional, structural and energetic integrity.

    Som børn lærer vi at opfatte og bruge kroppen gennem distinktioner. Vi lærer at skelne mellem aktiv/passiv, smerte/nydelse, højre/venstre, op/ned, indre/ydre og selv/anden for at lære at navigere i verden. På samme måde som at vi overser baggrundsstøjen når vi har travlt med at lytte til en samtale, kan vores fokus på adskilte dele og distinktioner hurtigt få os til et glemme den enhed som er vores dybeste natur. Yogaens fysiske praksis hjælper os til at integrere det vi oplever som adskilt så vi igen kan høre livets blide baggrundsstøj og mærke den totalitet som vores distinktioner opstår fra.

    Birgitte underviser en serie af workshops der arbejder med yoga som enhed fra helt konkrete kropslige erfaringer og ikke som en abstrakt filosofisk overbygning. Hver workshop starter et sted i kroppen og viser dig hvordan kroppens tilsyneladende adskilte dele fungerer som et udeleligt hele. Du bliver guidet igennem en lang flow-baseret yogaklasse, en dyb afspænding og en kort siddende meditation. Vi balancerer muskelaktivitet og forløsning og vi arbejder både med bevægelse og stilhed. Hver workshop slutter med en afklarende dialog over en kop the. Hvis du kommer til begge klasser lørdag kan vi bestille vegetarisk frokost til dig for ca. 100 kr.

    Asana som Bandha (Århus)

    Bandhaer eller kropslåse beskrives ofte som yogiske teknikker til at låse, tilbageholde og udnytte energien I kroppen. På denne workshop arbejder vi med deres evne til at integrere, frisætte og ”låse op” for en oplevelse af enhed (yoga). Bandhaerne er på ingen måde esoteriske, mystiske eller svære at lære. Tvært imod er du født med bandhaerne som helt naturlige funktioner i kroppen når den er aktiv og hele kroppen arbejder harmonisk sammen. Når der er integritet og sammenhæng i kroppen i de fysiske stillinger i yoga, opstår bandhaerne spontant som en naturlig sideeffekt. Aktiveringen af bandhas er typisk det som udgør forskellen mellem oplevelsen af yogastillinger som ren fysisk træning og oplevelsen af yogastillinger som en spirituel og integrerende praksis.

    På denne workshop vil du lære hvordan du i de fysiske stillinger kan invitere bandhaerne som en naturlig del af din praksis snarere end som en separat teknik (som f.eks at trække maven tilbage mod rygsøjlen, spænde i bækkenbunden eller holde vejret). En serie af fire klasser guider dig hen imod muskulær og energetisk integration ved at lære dig hvordan bandhaerne hænger sammen med f.eks aktiveringen af hænder og fødder. Klasserne undervises primært som et langt flow af yogastillinger, men der vil også være små kollektive eksperimenter på yogamåtten, dialog og praksis I mindre grupper.

    Fredag17.00-20.00: Blødhed

    En blid aftenklasse på gulvet hvor vi arbejder med at aktivere rygsøjlen I små bagoverbøjninger og rotationer. Du lærer at aktivere de dybe muskler der ligger tæt ved rygsøjlen som er helt vitale for bandhaerne samt at slappe af og blive blød i den dybe kerne af kroppen. Denne klasse er en god forberedelse til weekendens workshop men er åben for alle.

    9:30 – 12:30: Dynamic yoga klasse, afspænding og siddende meditation

    13:30 -16:30: undersøgelse og eksperimenter med morgenens teknikker samt en kortere, blid yogaklasse til at slutte dagen på.

    Denne ekstra klasse er åben for yogalærere der har deltaget i hele workshoppen ”asana som bandha”. (Hvis du endnu er under uddannelse til yogalærer er du også velkommen så længe du har deltaget i weekendens workshop). Vi går bag kulissen og kigger på metoden bag weekendens undervisning. Hvilke instruktioner er væsentlige når du underviser asana som bandha? Hvordan sekvenserer du en klasse der har bandha som tema? Hvorfor er bandhaerne vigtige og hvad er deres betydning for yogaens fysiske stillinger? Hvad er de mest almindelige misforståelser omkring bandhaerne? Klassen foregår som en løbende dialog afbrudt af kollektive eksperimenter på yogamåtten.

    Pull the plug, take the plunge and dive into the depths of yoga. This urban retreat will take place in the beautiful Metropolis Yoga Shala at Sluseholmen, an undisturbed city space with plenty of open sky, ocean view and nature walks just around the corner. We also have a beautiful wooden swimming facility (Havnebadet sluseholmen) next to the venue if you want a free ocean dip or a rest in the sun between classes.

    Each day we will dive deeper into yoga posture flows and meditation allowing you to tune into the subtle delight of being deeply present in the body. Parts of the retreat will take place in practical silence, giving you the opportunity to go deep within.

Birgitte will guide you through 6 progressive posture practices allowing you to sensitize, recalibrate, mobilize and strengthen your body without struggle or pain. Each morning class lands you gently in deep relaxation and awakens you to seated meditation.

    After the morning practice we will serve a fresh tasty lunch at the pool. You can spend your day chilling at the beach, receiving a healing massage under the trees or exploring the stunning beauty of the Ibiza with your new friends.

    We have scheduled 4 afternoon sessions clarifying the Dynamic Yoga Training Method to make sure it feels great for your body.     This retreat is suitable for all levels of yogic surfers. There is no need to grind your theeth, grab your toes or hold your breath for you to dive into the deep end of yoga. Beginners, intermediate as well as very experienced students will be supported accordingly in their practice. Families and friends are most welcome. We have 9 luxury double rooms with en suite bathrooms. We have exclusive limited places for this Ibiza retreat to make sure you get to explore and go deeper.

    Price: Early bird price (full and final booking before April 1st 2014) is 1100 EUR per person staying in a shared luxurious double room with en suite bathroom. After April its 1275 EUR.     In August 2014 we are going to the Greek Island of Lesvos for a Lovely yoga holiday. Long morning yoga classes nourishing your body with sensitive slow-flowing practices allowing you to go deeper day by day without pain or struggle. Dynamic yoga is coming from a deep respect of the body you have today and will never force you into painful postures or demand excess flexibility or strength. Beginners will get a solid foundation for a home yoga practice and advanced students will get support in tuning into the more subtle depths of yoga. We welcome families and friends to come and stay with you during the retreat.

    You will receive around 30 hours of teaching over 7 days. Yoga posture practice is mainly taught between 8.00 and 11.30 and meditation takes place in the evening. A few afternoon sessions will also help you clarify the practice and allow you to go deeper the next day. This venue has space for you to bring your family, friends and loved ones. Feel free to bring extra guests and we simply knock off the yoga from their price.

    All teaching takes place in fluent English or Danish as required.

    August 3rd. Arrive in the evening at Milelja retreat center. Settle into your room and have a dip in the pool. Warm welcome in the yoga room for introductions. A simple meal, a cup of tea and then early to bed. If you arrive earlier in the day contact the retreat center about the possibilities for an earlier check in.

    August 4-9th: Each day begins with a long sunrise yoga class in the mild morning air starting around 7.30. A gentle pranayama practice prepares your body for a long, slow-flowing series of yoga postures gradually awakening the feeling intelligence of your body. Birgitte will guide you through 6 progressive posture practices allowing you to sensitize, recalibrate, mobilize and strengthen your body without struggle or pain. Each morning class lands you gently in a long, deep relaxation and awakens you to seated meditation. We close the morning session with a short talk/dialogue related to the theme of the day.

    After the morning session, we serve a tasty brunch buffet.

    Most, your afternoons are free for you to cool off at the beach, have a massage or explore the island with your new friends. Two afternoon sessions clarify the dynamic yoga training method and help you to adjust the practice to the needs and capacities of your body. These sessions work as a support function to the morning classes and take place through dialogue, little experiments on your yoga mat sometimes working in pairs.

    In the evenings, you are free to explore the local village life and restaurants. Thursday night we have scheduled a dinner at the retreat center for all of us.

    Each night before bed time Birgitte will lead a seated meditation allowing your mind to go quiet.

    August 10th: A short sunrise yoga class and a beautiful sharing experience to end our week together. Rooms need to be checked out at 10.00 but you are free to use the pool, shower and yoga room after the morning practice and breakfast if you have time before flying off.

    Milelja Retreat center is at the northern tip of the island of Lesvos and has been a popular yoga holiday destination through many years. Milelja specializes in hosting yoga retreats and offer a peaceful and protected atmosphere and accommodation in single and double rooms to fit any budget. Our clorine-free swimming pool is filled with mineral water from the local hot springs and the quiet beach is only a 10 minute walk away. The local village Molyvos is kept in stile with the old buildings and narrow streets offering a variety of small taverns and cafes. Our wooden yoga room is round and has a beautiful view to the mountains and village.

    INTEGRATING IMMERSION TWO WITH OLIVIA AND BIRGITTE: focusses on integrating the Seven Universal Actions of Yoga Posture Praxis as the muscular basis of the bandhas in the whole body. You will learn how to refine your actions on the basis of their impacts so as to be able to enjoy the spontaneous internalisation of awareness that flows from effortless effort. This immersion is open to anyone, teachers as well as pratititioners, interested in the biomechanical and energetic integrity of the bodimind. It is especially fruitful for newcomers to yoga posture praxis, and anyone who considers themselves to be an advanced practitioner.

    In 2014 dynamicyoga.dk and Yogarummet  will be hosting 4 immersions in Stockholm. The modules are open to anyone wanting to deepen their yoga practice. Each immersion can be booked individually and can be taken in any order. The immersions are open to all yoga practioners

    Taken together, the four immersions constitute the first half of the 200-hour Dynamic yoga teacher training. In practice though, this involves close to 300 hours of contact hours in training. To become certified in this 200hour training you will need to complete all four immersion modules (again in no particular order) plus a 3 week residential ‘Teaching Skills’ intensive with Godfrey Devereux and Olivia Crooks. This is held each September in France at Windfire School of Yoga. Any trained teacher with a 200 hour certificate from another school of yoga, can add these hours to this 200hour training to make 500hours.

    Each day will include a long yoga practice with pranayama and meditation and a presentation of the postures and techniques used in the morning practice. The afternoon consists of a guided exploration of the techniques and if time another short yoga class at the end of the day.

    Birgitte has studied with Godfrey Devereux through all her years of teaching and has been assisting Dynamic Yoga Teacher trainings since 2006. Her instruction is joyfully clear and comes from a deep commitment to help students access their teacher within. Her classes invite you to subtlety deepen the awareness of your physical body and establish the deepest possible intimacy with life, just as it is.

    saravangasanDe omvendte stilinger på skuldrene begrænses ofte til de to eller tre mest kendte variationer. Men denne gruppe af stillinger har langt flere muligheder og en hel række forberedende trin som ofte overses når vi blot bruger skulderstand til hurtigt at afslutte en yogapraksis. Denne workshop guider dig sikkert og nænsomt op på skuldrene og nærer kroppen ved at dedikere en hel praksis til denne gruppe af stillinger.

    Den første halvdel af klassen forbereder dig til de omvendte stillinger på skuldrene gennem chandra namaskar (månehilsen) samt blide bagoverbøjninger. Her lærer du nogle enkle principper for at aktivere hænder, arme og rygsøjle sådan at du kan integrere skuldrene og finde dig til rette i de omvendte stillinger. Derefter bevæger vi os gradvist op på skuldrene hvor vi udforsker forskellige variationer.

    Efterhånden som vi går frem vil de elever der har nået deres grænse blive tilbudt restorative hvilestillinger hvor kroppen er understøttet af tæpper og puder. Klassen slutter med en lang afspænding og en siddende meditation.

    Workshoppen er for alle og undervises på dansk eller engelsk alt efter behov. Nye elever vil få en solid introduktion til de omvendte stillinger på skuldrene. Elever der allerede er godt bekendt med Dynamic Yoga vil få mulighed for at udforske drop-over backbends på skuldrene.

    The advantages of doing backbends in yoga are many, especially for us bent-over westerners who tend to get stuck at the desk in a forward bend for many hours a day. This workshop allows you to enjoy a sensitive step-by-step journey into back bending where the opening up in the front of the body goes hand in hand with a loving care for your lower back and other soft spots. “Opening your heart” as it is often said in yoga is not just a matter of pushing into more and more crazy postures. It’s rather about embracing what is actually happening within you right here and now. Birgitte will guide two classes that take different approaches to backbends as a way of feeling and responding lovingly to the whole of your being.

    The classes are open to all from beginners to the most advanced and can be booked individually or together as you see fit.

    10.00 – 13.00 Loving the lower back.
    A long and energizing flow of postures teaching you how to support the lower back as you begin to open the front of your body. This class prepares you for backbends by teaching you how to activate the whole of your body to protect the vulnerability of your joints.

    14.00 – 17.00 Opening the heart.
    A meditative three-hour flow will take you through a progressive series of backbends, closing with a deep release of the spine. As the class progress, supported alternatives will be given to those who have reached the limit of their capacity.

    Yoga and meditation are often seen as two distinct and separate practices. One dynamic and physical and the other still and mental. However, both practices are an invitation to experience the unity within body and awareness. This three-hour workshop will explore meditaton and yoga posture practice as an undivided whole through movement, breath and stilness.

    Both yoga postures and meditation will be guided as invitations to become deeply present to what is actually happening here and now. We begin and end the class in seated meditation. The two rounds of sitting will be connected by a simple and nourishing flow of yoga postures taking you deeper in your experience of body and awareness.

    Vi ser ofte på yogaens fysiske praksis og meditation som to forskellige teknikker. Den ene virker umiddelbart kraftfuld og kropslig mens den anden synes stille og mental. Men begge praksisser kommer fra samme sted og rummer samme invitation: At blive et med det der sker i dit liv her og nu.

    På dette sæsonkursus dykker vi dybere ned i dynamisk yoga og meditation for at opdage enheden bag vores dagligdags oplevelse af krop og bevidsthed som to adskilte størrelser. Vi går til meditation som en konkret og fysisk praksis (somatic meditation) og vi bruger et dynamisk flow af yogastillinger som en invitation til at genfinde den meditative tilstand du blev født med.

    Alle der er interesseret i yoga og meditation er velkomne på dette kursus. Du vil uge for uge blive guidet dybere i din praksis uden kamp, pres eller smerte. Vi starter i slutningen af januar med en blid praksis som bliver mere kraftfuld som lyset vender tilbage og foråret bliver til sommer.Der er åbent for tilgang af nye elever indtil den 1/3, derefter lukkes gruppen sådan at vi komme mere i dybden med teknikker som ikke undervises på åbne klasser i Dynamic Yoga.     Saturday 9.30 a.m – 1.30 p.m: The Spine

    The spine is central to our movement and experience. When the spine is carrying unhelpful and habitual postural and movement patterns the experience of our body can be less than pleasurable and we can often find ourselves in pain and discomfort or lacking in mobility.

    If yoga posture practice is to release us from the imprints of life held within our structure and musculature, e.g.  high shoes, bags on one shoulder, accumulation of hours on the computer, it needs to be undertaken with a keen sense of listening to the whispers of sensation within the spine. In this workshop we initiate a vital sensitization of the mind to the spine, exploring specific sequencing to bring release to muscles that may overwork, and awaken muscles that may be inactive. Within the arena of yoga posture practice and pranayama we are guided to a deepened level of intimacy  to what’s actually happening in our unique body mind, moving towards balancing, mobilizing and finally strengthening the spine.

    The workshop will include, posture practice, pranayama, relaxation and clarifying discussion, exploration and demonstration.

    Suitable for all levels of practitioner from those newly exploring yoga to advanced practitioners and teachers.

    Subtle yet powerful, with inquiry at the very heart of the practice, this workshop proves valuable and insightful for students, practioners and teachers from all styles and levels of practice.

    Using skillful Vinyasa Krama (progressive instruction), intelligent and effective sequencing of Asana, movement and Pranayama, this workshop invites you into feeling and experiencing the deeper, less explored areas of posture practice, taking us via body and breath beyond belief and acquired knowledge  into a steady and continuous flow of simply experiencing the wisdom of the body expressing itself in any given moment.     OPENING IMMERSION FOUR: focusses on using the Seven Universal Actions of Yoga Posture Praxis to develope the power, flexibility and resilience of the spine and its supporting musculature. You will learn how to apply the Dynamics of Integrity to mobilise and strengthen the spine as the core of the body, and the heart of yoga posture praxis. This immersion has a strong emphasis on backbends, and is open to anyone, teachers as well as pratititioners, interested in the bionechanical and energetic integrity of the bodimind. It is especially fruitful for newcomers to yoga posture praxis, and anyone who considers themselves to be an advanced practitioner.

    each day begins with a long yoga class guided by Olivia, followed by a presentation of the relevant techniques/postures of the day. After a one-hour lunch break we continue with aftenoon explorations guided by Birgitte. Little experiments on your mat and in groups will help you clarify and work with the techniques of the morning class to make them work for your bodys specific needs and capacities.     The bandhas are often taught as techniques to “lock” or harness the energy of the body. But when practiced sensitively they have a much deeper power to integrate and “unlock” your being in the body and invite you to experience the inherent unity of yoga. This is by no means mystical, esoteric or difficult. Activating the bandhas is a natural response of the body when doing yoga postures (asana) with integrity. Practicing asana as bandha is an invitation cross the threshold from experiencing yoga postures as just being physical “shapes” to accessing the subtle energetic resonance within them all. This workshop will explore the bandhas as an organic and natural event in your body rather than a separate “technique”. You will be guided towards physical and energetic integration in four sessions. We will mainly be engaged in flowing yoga posture practice but the workshop also offers a bit of group work and pranayama practice.

    Friday 19.00-21.30: Softening

    Soak into softness with a gentle floor practice of spinal extensions, gentle backbends and twists.     NOURISHING IMMERSION ONE: focusses on cultivating the Dynamics of Integrity in the whole body so as to access somatic intelligence consciously. You will learn how to activate the body with integrity in a broad range of dynamic and static supine, prone, seated, standing and inverted postures. This immersion is open to anyone, teachers as well as pratititioners, wishing to establish a stable basis of integrity for their praxis or teaching.     Godfri Devereux

    Godfrey Devereux has been teaching and practicing yoga for over 40 years and his contribution to the art and science of yoga is unique and remarkable. His discoveries and developments are numerous, ongoing and allow yoga to be experienced without reference to esotericism or unverifiable concepts.     This immersion intensive will explore the integrating power of the spiral dynamic of integrity. This allows the Seven Universal Actions of yoga posture practice to be integrated throughout the whole body via the relationship between the ribcage and the pelvis into the release of the breath. The spiral dynamics of the arms, feet and legs will be explored by way of the interconnected nature of the relationships between the body parts in a variety of standing postures, lunges, backbends and suryanamaskar.

    Bandha oversættes ofte med “kropslås” og beskrives som en teknik der oplader kroppens energi ved at lukke kredsløbet og cirkulere energien i stedet for at lade den strømme ud. Bandhaerne beskytter de sårbare steder i kroppen ved at give stabilitet, men de er også en nøgle for dig der gerne vil udforske de energetiske, og spirituelle aspekter af yogaens fysiske praksis. De fysiske stillinger i yoga (Asana) går meget dybere når de praktiseres som en invitation til Bandha. Kurset giver dig mulighed for at opleve bandha som en integreret del af din fysiske praksis snarere end som teoretisk viden eller selvstændig teknik. Kurset forløber over fem klasser der alle er baseret på en fysisk yogapraksis med masser af bevægelse.

    Bliss (“Ānanda”) is a word often used in relation to yoga. But the bliss that yoga has to offer is much more than a brief peak of ecstasy or a temporary pit stop in relaxation. Ānanda, by contrast, is a baseline for being conscious and alive. You don’t need flexibility, strength or yogic superpowers to access the subtle experience of being bliss. All you need is to deeply feel your body – just as it is. These four classes invite you to take the plunge into the quiet world of sensation to uncover the subtle heart of yoga within the body you have today. Especially suited for beginners AND extremely advanced yogis/meditators.

    The four classes can be booked individually or as a progressive series going from the obvious to the subtle aspects of yoga posture practice.

    Friday 7.00-9.30 pm: Softening
    Soak into softness with a gentle floor practice of spinal extensions, rotations and twists. The class teaches you to access the deep spinal muscles and invite release into the core of your body.

    Saturday 2-5 pm: Feeling
    Sensitivity is the ultimate compass of a nourishing yoga posture practice. Feeling your way through moon salutations, standing postures and seated backbends takes you step by step into the delight of being deeply present in the body. The focus of the class is to sensitize all of your joints so your body can teach you how to balance activity and release.

    Sunday 1.00 – 3.00. Opening
    Sun salutations like you´ve never done them before! Often squeezed in as a warm-up or transition between postures the true potential of this classical practice easily gets overlooked. A deep and continuous flow takes you from basic to advanced variations without pain or struggle. The activation of the whole of your body supports the opening quality of backbends and forward bends and invites you to feel the vibrant aliveness of the spine.

    Sunday 4.00-6.30: Being
    A series of inverted, supine and seated postures allows you to settle into quiet stillness as we hold gentle postures for longer periods of time. The class may include restorative variations using blankets, blocks and bolsters to support you in exploring the subtle heart of sensation. We close the practice with a guided meditation.

    Suryanamaskar – solhilsen – bliver ofte brugt til at åbne og styrke hele kroppen og sætte blus på energien. På yogaklasser verden over bruges elementer af serien, men oftest kun som opvarmning eller overgang mellem to stillinger. Solhilsen kan dog være en smuk meditativ praksis i sig selv hvis man giver sig tid til at nyde flowet og arbejde i kroppens eget tempo.

    Vi starter med en lang, blid yogaklasse der giver dig de basale teknikker for at finde meditationen i en flow-baseret yogapraksis. Du lærer grundteknikker til at aflaste de sårbare led i kroppen og forløse åndedrættets naturlige rytme.
    Om eftermiddagen udforsker vi principperne bag, som hjælper dig til at arbejde sikkert i flow så du kan tilpasse teknikkerne til din egen krops behov. Du får også en kort præsentation af alle grundstillinger i suryanamaskar-serien.

    Brigitte’s teaching is powered by the wisdom of the living, feeling, breathing body. This helps her students tap directly into the subtle heart of yoga from their own experience, rather than from belief, knowledge or figures of authority. Her teaching takes place as step-by-step journey into meditation in action – accessed through simple movements, soft release and deep self-enquiry. Birgitte did her first yoga class in 1994 and has spent thousands of hours on the mat and with students since she started teaching in 2001. She is trained as a psychologist (PhD). Her unflinching commitment to teach within the Dynamic Yoga Training Method started early and has gradually substituted the quest for knowledge with the love of teaching yoga. Today she is one of the three senior teachers in the Dynamic Yoga Training Method. She teaches classes and workshops around Europe, assists Olivia in immersion modules and is a guest teacher to couple of danish teacher training programs.

    Et langsomt og nærende flow der trin for trin guider dig op på skuldrene og udforsker nye variationer. Den første halvdel af klassen forbereder dig til skulderstand gennem chandra namaskar (månehilsen) samt blide bagoverbøjninger. Her lærer du nogle enkle principper for at aktivere hænder, arme og rygsøjle sådan at du kan integrere skuldrene og finde dig til rette i de omvendte stillinger. Derefter bevæger vi os gradvist op på skuldrene hvor vi udforsker forskellige variationer. (foroverbøjninger, bagoverbøjninger og muligvis rotationer). Efterhånden som vi går frem vil de elever der har nået deres grænse blive tilbudt restorative hvilestillinger hvor kroppen er understøttet af tæpper og puder.     This talk will explore the depths and subtleties of human intelligence to contextualise and fertilise yoga and meditation practice and their relevance to daily life. It will explore the three aspects of human intelligence and their interrelationships: somatic, cerebral and spiritual.

    APRIL 13: SOMATIC MEDITATION WORKSHOP   (10.00-18.00)

    To become intimate with the subtle presence and nature of the body is to become able to be intimate with mind and consciousness. Only then is it possible to fully integrate the intelligence and power of consciousness with that of mind, so that mental activity can be grounded in the nondual intelligence of consciousness. This workshop will present a progressive methodology for accessing the nondual, impersonal intelligence of consciousness from the body. No prior meditative experience required.

    APRIL 14:  TANTRA YOGA WORKSHOP   (10.00-18.00)

    The postural practices of Hatha Yoga have their origins in Tantra. The Tantric approach to life regards the body as a temple,  and its sexuality as an expression of spiritual energy. The systematic sensitisation of the bodimind through subtle, sensitive action can be used to access, awaken and integrate the subtle energy body. In doing so core sexual energy  is released as a healing, nourishing circulation throughout the whole body that enlivens and harmonises both body and mind. This workshop will explore the somatic practices (asana, bandha, mudra and pranayama) that unlock the healing power of sexual energy as a process of deep psychosomatic and spiritual release.

    Yoga er for alle. Du behøver ikke stille dig på skuldrene af dem som er klogere, stærkere eller mere erfarne end dig for at gå dybt i din praksis. Denne workshop er en chance for at finde dine indre kilde til næring og ro så du ikke behøver søge den udenfor dig selv. Et godt sted at starte er at på dine egne skuldre. Birgitte guider dig igennem et blidt og nærende flow af yogastillinger der vækker kroppens medfødte intelligens og lærer dig at handle på det du kan mærke. Du får mulighed for sikkert og blidt at udforske en række omvendte stillinger på skuldrene som har nogle mærkbare effekter på din krop, dit nervesystem og din sindstilstand.

    9.00-12.00: Fundament og Forløsning

    Formiddagen består af et blidt flow af yogastillinger der styrker din evne til at mærke kroppen og forbereder dig  til omvendte stillinger på skuldrene. Serien inviterer dig til at forløse unødvendige spændinger i ansigt, kæbe, hals, skuldre, nakke og torso. Gennem blide  bagoverbøjninger samt liggende og siddende stillinger lærer du nogle enkle principper for at aktivere kroppen sådan at du sikkert og effektivt kan integrere og åbne skuldrene . Klassen lægger fundamentet for de omvendte stillinger på skuldrene og slutter med afspænding.

    13.00-16.30: Stå på egne skuldre…

    Eftermiddagen starter med en afklarende dialog om morgenens teknikker og en kort præsentation af skulderstand og et par af dens mange variationer. Derefter følger et langsomt og nærende flow der trin for trin guider dig op på skuldrene og udforsker nye variationer. Vi begynder med let tilgængelige grundstillinger og bevæger os gradvist over i foroverbøjninger, bagoverbøjninger og rotationer på skuldrene. Efterhånden som vi går frem vil de elever der har nået deres grænse blive tilbudt restorative hvilestillinger hvor kroppen er understøttet af tæpper og puder. Klassen slutter med en lang afspænding og en siddende meditation.

    I yoga tales der meget om ”bliss” eller ”fryd” (Ānanda). Men mange af os kommer til yoga og oplever at vi skal bide tænderne hårdt sammen for at komme igennem en moderne flow-baseret yogaklasse. Er man et helt almindeligt moderne menneske kan mange yogastillinger føles som fysiske umuligheder og Ānanda lyder lidt som en by i Rusland.

    ”Bliss” er imidlertid ikke en præmie du får hvis du gennemfører en yoga-boot-camp. Ānanda er en grundtilstand  i mennesket, en tilstand du er født med og som yoga tilbyder dig at genopdage.

    På denne klasse får du en introduktion til hvordan Dynamic Yoga arbejder med kroppens naturlige intelligens, sådan at du kan få en aktiv fysisk yogapraksis der føles godt. En praksis hvor du undersøger muligheden for at finde fryden ved, simpelthen at være i live.

    Den første halvdel af klassen er baseret på serien månehilsen (chandra namaskar), et aktivt og meditativt flow af yogastillinger der vækker sensitiviteten og kommer hele kroppen igennem. Den sidste del af klassen er et mere blidt flow af liggende og omvendte stillinger. Vi slutter med afspænding og en kort, siddende meditation.

    Strong spine – soft core (Malmö)

    Strengthening the deep spinal muscles is a key to going deeper in yoga posture practice for beginners and advanced students alike. A strong spine allows you to practice safely and efficiently and protects the vulnerability of the lower back. Also, when the spine is activated you can let go of unnecessary “holding on” or tension in the core of the body and soften into even more challenging postures. Releasing tension in the core of the body is also one of the ways in which yoga posture practice can bring about a deep nourishment. This class will explore the possibilities of activating the spine in a slow, deep flow of spinal extensions and rotations. The practice invites the body to breathe freely, the internal organs to be nourished and the mind to take a well deserved rest. The beginning of the class will explore  the possibility of release through action in a dynamic flow of  chandra namaskar (moon salutation) and a couple of standing rotations. The class ends by letting go into soft, nourishing flow of seated and supine rotations.  After a long guided relaxation we land in seated meditation and a little dialogue, clarifying the impacts and effects of softening the core.

    This workshop will take us on a vinyasa krama (step by step progression) of shoulder inversions. Often just squeezed in at the end of a practise, the benefits of inversions can be overlooked. They are a potent means to pacifying and providing complete rest to the cellular structure of the whole body, while simultaneously lending to an experience of internalisation and release.

    Friday February 15th. 5 – 8pm.
    The first session begins with a specific sequence to sensitize, awaken and prepare the body for going up on the shoulders. Guided using layers of instruction so that the body can develop pathways, assimilate and deepen ones capacity for coming and being on the shoulders with integrity. Whether you are very comfortable on your shoulders or have never been up on them you will benefit from understanding how to sequentially prepare the body, so that when you do come up your experience is a nourishing and pleasurable one.

    Saturday February 16th. 9 – 12am
    In the second session we gather a little more momentum and move through a complete practise sequence that takes us from preparation and into actually being on the shoulders, journeying into the different shoulder stand variations as they are interweaved into the practice. The shoulder inversions take us deeper into understanding how to use the arms in relation to the shoulders and spine. They develop the wrists and arms and they soften and awaken the spine in easy gentle forward and back bending shapes. The nourishing supportive arena of being upside down leads us towards an experience of effortless integration and we can benefit greatly from the heart been rested over the head.

    Saturday February 16th. 1 – 5pm.
    The third session begins with a short presentation (where you will be able to see many of the inversions you have been taken through in the morning). Followed by a question and answer time, with plenty of opportunity to gain individual feedback and clarification.
    Each session includes posture practice, relaxation, some sitting and a little dialogue.
    The first session is beneficial as a stand-alone experience, yet to attend the third session students need to have attended session 1 and 2

    Weekend Workshop: Asana som Bandha

    Bandha oversættes ofte med “kropslås” og beskrives som en teknik der oplader kroppens energi ved at lukke kredsløbet og cirkulere energien i stedet for at lade den strømme ud. Bandhaerne beskytter ikke bare de sårbare steder i kroppen ved at give stabilitet. De er også en nøgle for dig der gerne vil udforske de energetiske, og spirituelle aspekter af yogaens fysiske praksis. Asana går meget dybere når de praktiseres som en invitation til Bandha.

    Workshoppen giver dig mulighed for at opleve bandha som en integreret del af din fysiske praksis snarere end som teoretisk viden eller teknik. Kurset forløber over tre dynamisk flydende klasser der alle er baseret på en fysisk yogapraksis med masser af bevægelse. Undervinsingen krydres med små ”eksperimenter” og praktiske undersøgelser der afklarer principperne og giver mulighed for spørgsmål.

    På workshoppen vil du lære at aktivere følgende bandhaer: Håndens bandha (hastabandha), fodens bandha (padabandha), (rodlåsen) mulabandha, brystkasselåsen (uddiyanabandha), halslåsen (jaladarabandha), rygsøjlens bandha (merubandha) og måske også helkrops-bandhaen (sarvangabandha).

    Lørdag 11.30-14. 30: Morgenklassen begynder med en pranayama-sesion (åndedrætsøvelser) hvor bandhaerne aktiveres fra åndedrættet. Derefter følger en serie af yogastillinger og flows der viser hvordan aktiveringen hænder og arme kan fungere som en strukturel invitation til bandha. Klassen slutter med siddende meditation og dialog. (obs! Det er bedst ikke at have mad i maven inden denne klasse. Slut gerne morgenmaden mindst 2 timer før klassen starter. Medbring evt. en snack du kan spise sidst i timen hvis du har tendens til lavt blodsukker).

    Lørdag 15.30-17.30 : Eftermiddagsklassen indeholder et langsomt flow samt lange ophold i  siddende stillinger. Klassen fokuserer på hvordan aktiveringen af rygsøjlen samt fødder og ben kan fungere som en strukturel invitation til de tre bandhaer i torsoen. Klassen slutter med siddende meditation og dialog.

    Søndag 8.30-11.30: Her breder vi det vi har lært ud til at omfatte kroppen som et hele. Ved at arbejde simultant med at aktivere hænder, fødder, arme, ben og rygsøjle kan bandhaerne opstå spontant som en integreret del af enhver yogastilling. Vi undersøger muligheden for at lade bandhaerne i hænder, fødder, bækken og torso flyde sammen til en oplevelse af bandhaerne i hele kroppen (sarvangabandha). Klassen slutter med siddende meditation samt dialog.

    Lørdag og søndag formiddag er åben for alle der har en yogapraksis, men du skal være indstillet på at gå ned i detaljerne bevæge dig og være fysisk aktiv igennem hele workshoppen.

    Søndag 12.00-14.45 (for yogalærere): Søndagen slutter med en session for yogalærer der går bag om undervisningen og bryder klaserne ned til nogle principper du kan bruge i din egen undervisning.  Vi snakker om metoden bag at undervise asana som bandha. Hvilke instruktioner inviterer bandha i de fysiske stillinger? Hvordan sekvenserer man en klasse med fokus på bandhas? Hvilke energetiske effekter har bandhas? Hvad er filosofien bag asana som bandha? Hvorfor er de vigtige og hvad er deres gavnlige effekter? Eftermiddagsklassen foregår som dialog men afbrudt af små eksperimenter på yogamåtten. Vi slutter med en siddende meditation.

    Da hver klasse er en forberedelse til den næste vil det ikke være muligt at booke enkelte dage. Søndagsklasserne giver kun mening hvis man har deltaget om lørdagen.

    December darkness softly wraps around us, seeds are waiting under ground and in the forest far away the animals are in curled up in winter sleep. Winter solstice is an invitation to nourish your body and replenish your energy. The value of deep relaxation is ever more present at this time of year as our bodies naturally requires us to recharge and rest before the light returns.

    A 3-hour candlelight yoga class allows you to softening deep into the core of the body by a series of supine, inverted and restorative postures, focusing on gentle backbends. The posture practice ends in deep relaxation and a short seated meditation inviting your mind to take a well-deserved rest. After the class you can enjoy a cup of steaming hot lemon tea with honey and a sweet snack to warm you before going home.

    Tag hul på det nye år med fire ugers blid yoga i flow. Vi fokuserer på stillinger og teknikker der kan genoplade batterierne og give dig energi til den sidste halvdel af vinteren.

    Dynamic Yoga starter i din egen krop præcis som den er i dag. Du skal hverken kunne nå dine tæer eller holde vejret for at komme ned i den dybe ende af yogaen. Kurset undervises efter en struktureret yogametode, der trin for trin tillader dig at gå dybere i din yogapraksis uden skader eller smerte. Begynder vil få et sikkert fundament for deres praksis, elever der allerede kender metoden vil få mulighed for at gå dybere.  Alle klasser er har max 13 deltagere. Det betyder, at der er plads og tid til dig. Hver klasse består af et flow af yogastillinger efterfulgt af en dyb afspænding. Kurset kommer med kursusmaterialer i form af praksisserier og en lydfil du kan  træne med derhjemme.

    Weekend workshop: The spiral dynamic

    Yoga posture practice is more than stretching, aligning and creating geometrical shapes with the body. Every yoga posture has a spiral dynamic which breathes life and ease into your practice and protects vulnerable joints like those of the knees, elbows and lower back.     10.00-13.00: Introducing the spirals
    The morning session introduce you to the basic actions of spiraling. Birgitte will teach an accessible flow of simple, symmetrical yoga postures that activate the hands and arms, feet and legs into the spiral dynamic. The class ends with a long, deep relaxation and a short seated meditation.

    14.00-16.00: Clarifying the spirals
    The afternoon session consists of a guided exploration of how the spiral dynamic works in your body. Birgitte will guide you through some simple experiments on your mat exploring the spirals in the hands, arms, feet and legs. The experiments and the dialogue around them will clarify the techniques presented in the morning class so that you can adapt them to your own body and style of practice. The afternoon closes with a 30 minute gentle flow of supine and inverted postures to land you softly and prepare for the next day.

    10.00-13.00: Activating the spirals
    This vinyasa practice will apply the actions learned on the Saturday to a series of yoga postures allowing you to benefit from the spiral dynamic and the support it gives to the whole of your body. A dynamic flow of postures will help you access the power of the spirals to clarify how the different body parts work as a whole. This allows you to enjoy the benefits of a safe and delightful and integrated yoga posture practice. The class will gradually progress towards asymmetrical standing postures and simple arm balances.

    14.00-16.30: Landing softly
    The afternoon session will offer a quick exploration of the spiral dynamic in the assymetrical standing postures by way of a short exploration. The workshop ends in a 1,5 hour slow flow of supine and restorative postures, nourishing your body and releasing unnecessary tension.

Going deep inside teaches you to act on what you can feel and builds a deep trust in your body’s ability to guide your practice.     Restorativt flow – soft core yoga.
    Giv næring til din krop. Som kronen på værket slutter weekenden med et blidt flowaf yogastillinger. Klassen undervises som en ekstra langsomt flydende serie af rygliggende, omvendte og siddende stillinger hvor hver asana holdes i længere tid. Serien tillader hele kroppen at lade batterierne op og påvirker de indre organers funktion så du bedre kan rense ud. Birgitte vil guide dig igennem et dybtgående flow der tager dig helt ind i dig selv og inviterer dig til at slippe spændinger helt inde fra kernen af kroppen.     Dynamic Yoga starter i din egen krop præcis som den er i dag. Du skal hverken kunne nå dine tæer eller holde vejret for at komme ned i den dybe ende af yogaen.     Stikket er trukket ud; velkommen til tre timers yoga helt tæt på.  Denne klasse tager udgangepunkt i en serie af yogastilllinger (Vinyasamuktasya-serien)  hvor flowet og rytmen er helt nede på vågeblus og  hver stiling holdes i længere tid. Serien er designet til at forløse unødvendige spændinger og tage dig dybt ind i dig selv så du kan mærke kroppens signaler og lære at handle på dem. Der fokuseres på rygliggende stillinger, siddende rotationer, bagoverbøjninger og omvendte stillinger. For dem der har brug for det, understøttes kroppen af puder og tæpper så du kan give helt slip. Sekvensen afsluttes med en lang guidet afspænding og siddende meditation.

    Efter workshoppen får du en billedfil med vinyasamutkasya-serien så du kan praktisere den derhjemme hvis du har lyst. Serien er især velegnet som en praksis du kan bruge når du har kørt batterierne flade eller bare trænger til at få ro på. Alle kan være med på dynamic yoga unplugged.

    Weekend-retreat i smuk gammel gård Sverige ca. 2 timer fra København. Huset er på over 200 m2 og bygget for over hundrede år siden. Den store svenske spisestue er fantastisk til yoga. Der hører en stor skov til huset og rundt omkring er et væld af skønne skovsøer som badenymfer (M/K) kan boltre sig i. Retreaten inkluderer 5 lange, blide, meditative yogaklasser og lækker vegetarisk mad tilberedt af den legendariske Rasmus Johnsen som også lavede mad sidste år. Når vi ikke laver yoga (eller spiser) skal vi bade, læse, drikke the og gå tur i den smukke skov der hører til huset. Der er max. 11 deltagere på retreaten så der bliver tid og plads til at vejlede en enkelte.

    Få gang i din egen yogapraksis og tag yogamåtten med på sommerferie. Over 6 uger lærer du en let tilgængelig serie af yogastillinger som kommer hele kroppen igennem og holder dig i god form hen over sommeren. Serien indeholder opvarmning, stående stillinger, armbalance, siddende stillinger, rygliggende stillinger og omvendte stillinger. De ekstra lange klasser hjælper dig med at få principperne bag serien ind under huden så du kan praktisere yoga på egen hånd uden skader eller smerte.     Denne workshop udforsker hvordan yogaens fysiske stillinger kan hjælpe dig til at slippe dybe spændinger i kroppen og sindet. Den består af to dele. Morgenklassen viser hvordan bevægelse og flow kan bruges til at frigive åndedrættets naturlige rytme og forløse unødvendige spændinger. Du vil blive guidet gennem et dynamisk serie af let tilgængelige yogastillinger som bevæger hele kroppen og inviterer opmærksomheden indad.     Recently there has been much debate among yoga teachers on whether yoga posture practice causes injury. The short answer is no. Yoga, if approached as a practice of self-enquiry and not self-improvement is a journey into sensitivity and can neither wreck your body, nor that of your students. Teaching based on anatomical knowledge and fixed principles of alignment is a good start, but for your students to practice safely they have to act on their internal sensation rather than your external authority. Leading a sensation-based yoga class is not only a safe approach to teaching, it is also an efficient method by which your students can become fully present in their practice.

    Day one : Sensation-based posture practice: Letting your body guide your actions on the mat.

    Day two: Teaching sensation-based posture practice: Guiding your students by internal sensations rather than geometry, knowledge or principle.

  • Workshop i Århus – Asana som Bandha

    Denne workshop udforsker bandhaerne som en uadskillelig del af asana praksis. Bandha bliver således ikke bare en selvstændig teknik eller et esoterisk mysterium men en spontan muskulær effekt som integrerer kroppen både muskulært og energetisk. Vi vil primært arbejde med at aktivere bandhas strukturelt gennem de fysiske stillinger. Kurset forløber over tre klasser og er primært baseret på en dynamisk og flydende praksis afbrudt af mindre ”eksperimenter” og praktiske undersøgelser der klargør principperne bag.

    Fredag 17-20: Den første klasse undersøger hvordan aktiveringen hænder og arme kan fungere som en strukturel invitation til bandhaerne. Klassen slutter med siddende meditation og dialog.

    Lørdag 8-12: Morgenklassen begynder med en pranayama session hvor mula bandha og uddiyana bandha aktiveres fra åndedrættet. Derefter følger en serie af yogastillinger og flows der viser hvordan aktiveringen af rygsøjlen samt fødder og ben kan fungere som en strukturel invitation til de tre bandhaer i torsoen. Klassen slutter med siddende meditation og dialog.     OLIVIA is a natural Tantrika whose understanding has been refined by many years of yoga and tantra practice. Her gentle and profound instruction transmits the subtle aspects of yoga with an incisive clarity which can go deeply into her students.  She began formal Yoga teacher training in Sydney, Australia by completing 1000hrs in 2001.     Yoga Integration Immersion

    Godfrey and Olivia are visiting copenhagen to teach a four-day immersion into the integrating power of the overt bandhas: hastabandha, padabandha and merubandha. These three easily accessible bandhas, in the upper body, lower body and spine respectively, establish deep structural and energetic integration. Each one depends opun the refined activation of two or more of the Seven Universal Actions upon which yoga posture practice depends. Together they integrate action and respiration, structure and function, body and mind. These three bandhas will be explored within the context of the Vinyasaxandrasya series, Vinyasasukasya series, and Vinyasaxikits series (incorporating more advanced standing postures).

    The immersion includes a set of written materials, image and sound files that can be used in your own practice at home. It is open to any yoga practitioner.

    Provisional day program (8.00-17.00):

    Morning session (5 hours) Godfrey teaches a guided practice which will include pranayama, asana and meditation. After the class Godfrey will go through the theory behind the practice and present the techniques and postures one by one.

    Afternoon session (3 hours) Olivia will guide an exploration of the postures and techniques that was presented in the morning session. This will allow techniques and principles of alignment to be integrated in organically in your body and your practice (rather than requiring you to learn and remember them as abstract knowledge). After the exploration, Olivia will teach a short guided yoga class which introduces the theme for the following day.

    Price: 525 EUR for 32 hours of teaching as well as course materials.

    YOGA DYNAMICS IMMERSION

    Godfri Devereux and Olivia Crooks are visiting Copenhagen and will be teaching a 4 days immersion on the dynamics of yoga posture practice. The focus of the immersion is the power of the Spiral Dynamic engaged in the arms and legs. The Spiral Dynamic allows the lengthenings, broadenings and groundings of the Seven Universal Actions to be integrated into the relationship between the ribcage and the pelvis, by way of the interconnected nature of the relationships bewteen the body parts. This supports and releases the breath as well as the spine and allows the body to be activated as a single unit.  The Spiral Dynamic will be explored within the context of the Vinyasaxandrasya (based on xandranamaskar), Vinyasasyurasya (based on suryanamaskar) and Vinyasasukasya series (incorporating standing postures).

    The immersion includes a set of written materials, image and sound files that can be used in your own practice at home.

    It is open to any yoga practitioner.

    In 2011-12 we welcome Godfrey Devereux to Copenhagen for the 200-hour Dynamic Yoga Teacher Training. This is an invaluable opportunity to study with one of Europe’s most experienced and recognized teachers through a thoroughly tested teaching format. Godfrey has trained hundreds of teachers all over Europe and will be conducting the 200-hour training through five 32-hour modules spread over a period of fifteen months. Modules 1-3 can be booked individually and are open to any practitioner of yoga. Module 4&5 are open to all trained and trainee yoga teachers as well as participants who completed module 1-3. Dynamic Yoga teacher Training is approved by the Independent Yoga Network. Satisfactory completion of modules 1-5 allows you to register with The Yoga Register as a professionally qualified yoga teacher.

    Payment: A non-refundable deposit of 200 EUR per module will allow you to book a space in advance. The remaining amount is due a week before each module. If you want to book all 5 modules the non-refundable deposit is 750 EUR (Note that the collected price for all 5 modules is appr. 10.000 DKR less than any other teacher training program offered in Copenhagen)

Her gentle and profound instruction transmits the subtle aspects of yoga with an impressive clarity which tends to go directly under the skin of her students.     På denne workshop får du mulighed for at undersøge hvordan det frie og spontane åndedræt kan åbne døren til en mere meditativ yogapraksis. Ved at slippe enhver form for kontrol af åndedrættet og invitere yogastillinger og bevægelser til at følge vejrtrækningens spontane rytme inviteres sindet til at give slip og dykke ned i meditationen. Da vi arbejder med flow bliver denne workshop mere fysisk krævende end den første, men stadig på et niveau hvor alle kan være med. Hvis du kan lide vinyasa-yoga, asthanga eller andre flydende yogastilarter vil denne workshop give dig nogle værktøjer til at arbejde med overgange og men også til at gå dybere med fokuseret opmærksomhed og de meditative aspekter af en flydende praksis.

    Bandha: Kroppen som et hele

    Bandaerne er en af de mest kraftfulde teknikker I yoga. Derfor er de ofte omgæret af en masse hype og mystik. Men egentlig er de hverken mystiske eller svære at lære, de er blot et sæt af muskulære aktiviteter som har nogle overraskende stærke effekter. Ud over deres subtile energetiske aspekter er bandhaerne også en hjælp til at praktisere yoga med integritet, det vil sige uden skader eller smerte. Bandhas forbinder kroppens forskellige dele til et udeleligt hele og er derfor en uundværlig del af en sikker, effektiv og frydefuld yogapraksis. På workshoppen får du nogle værktøjer til at aktivere bandhas muskulært gennem åndedrættet og strukturelt gennem simple yogastillinger. Ved at lære hvordan du gør dette sensitivt kan du få adgang til deres helende og integrerende kraft. Workshoppen er åben for alle. Det er bedst ikke at have spist 1,5-  2  timer inden workshoppen starter. Der bliver serveret smoothie, the og mandler i pausen. Workshoppen er åben for alle.
